Calling scams are on the rise, and more people are becoming victims of these calls everyday. If you're not familiar with this type of scam, it works like this: you get a call from someone who claims to be from a company like Microsoft, and they say that your computer has a virus. They then offer to help you fix the problem, but in order to do so, they need to take remote access to your computer. They may even ask for your credit card number to pay for the "service."If you get a call like this, don't panic. Just hang up and don't call the number back. There's a good chance that it's a scam, and if you give them your information or access to your computer, they could steal your identity or install malware on your computer.

There are a few things you can do to protect yourself from scam calls:

1. Don't answer calls from numbers you don't recognize.

2. If you answer a call and the person on the other end asks for personal information, hang up.

3. If you think you may have been scammed, report the call to the FTC.

4. Install a call blocker app on your phone.

5. Check out the FTC's website for more information on scam calls.

Are 417 area code phone numbers toll-free? That’s a question many people in the Ozarks region have been asking, and the answer is a little complicated.The 417 area code is in Missouri, and while some of the calls made within that area are toll-free, calls made to or from outside the area are not. That means that if you’re calling someone in, say, Texas, and they have a 417 area code, your call will be charged as a long-distance call.

There are a few exceptions, however. Calls placed to 911, toll-free numbers, and numbers for schools, colleges, and universities are toll-free, regardless of what area code they’re in.
