Area code 330 was one of the original area codes established in 1947. It originally covered the northeast corner of Ohio, including the cities of Akron, Canton, and Youngstown. In 1996, the 330 area code was split, and the new code 330-722 covered the western half of the state. In 2001, the 722 code was split again, and the new code 330-833 covered the Cleveland metropolitan area. Today, the 330 area code covers most of northeastern Ohio, including the cities of Akron, Cleveland, and Youngstown.

Area code 330 covers the northeast corner of Ohio. It includes the Akron metropolitan area, as well as the surrounding rural areas. 330 was created in 1999, when it split off from area code 216.
